Indian classical music is fundamentally oral, structured on ragas (melodic frameworks) and talas (rhythmic cycles) that cannot be modeled by simple spectrogram matching. We work with academic institutions and master musicians to author standard annotation guidelines that make this system readable for generative models.
Our annotation standards are co-authored in partnership with Prof. Zhiyao Duan of the University of Rochester (former President of ISMIR). Our joint research whitepaper will be published on 31 July 2026.
